Our story began more than 8,000 miles away, in a small kitchen in Saigon, where our founder, Trung Truong, grew up starting many mornings with a warm bowl of phở.

In 1978, Trung and his family left Vietnam, spent time in a refugee camp in Malaysia, and later resettled in Illinois. Like many immigrant families, they carried their memories, traditions, and love of food with them. Cooking was what kept home close.

Trung spent years working in his family’s grocery store and restaurant, learning how to choose good ingredients, balance a broth, and prepare the kind of food that brings people together. In 2008, he opened Noodles “Phở” U in Lombard with a simple goal: to bring real Vietnamese food and a proper bowl of phở to his own community.

The Truong family still runs the kitchen today with that same care. Our menu includes comforting Vietnamese favorites, Asian classics you’ll recognize, Pan-Asian dishes inspired by the flavors our customers love, and a few house specialties we came up with ourselves.
